We want to start off by saying congratulations to Cardi B. She is really on her Binderella sh!t! She has been working extremely hard and it shows. Cardi B was and is just an regular around the way girl from the Bronx with an over the top personailty. She attended the school of performing arts (Did you know she wanted to be a history teacher at one point in time?) She worked at a supermarket but has always been intune with her creative side. After being fired and put out her parents home at 18 years old, she did what she had to do to survive and that was when she began to dance.
Cardi B had typical goals like most of us, even when she was a stripper she still strived and yearned for more. She took social media by storm just by being herself. Charismatic, beautiful, entertaining, funny and most of all real relatable! Letting you guys know that her everyday struggle was the same as your everyday struggle. She chose to rise above the BS while keeping it all the way real. She was a hustler and didn’t just dance in the hood , she took her act downtown to maximize her connections and her shmoney chase. She danced in clubs where doctors ,judges and lawyers frequented. She would have conversations with them, letting them know it was more to her than just a bad body. Cardi B was intelligent so it wasn’t by chance that she got on to Love & Hip Hop New York. She created a whole brand beside and behind the name "Cardi B" and completely won over the viewers with her do or die personality. You either love or hate her but the one thing you couldn't take from her is that she was 100 with every situation that she approached and this is why the world today loves Cardi B.
Nobody is a harder when it comes to critiquing herself. Cardi B put out a mixtape, she had a blazing single and features but it took her awhile to put out her album because she was holding herself to such high standards. Knowing her singles have broken records and now had a lot of momentum, she just didn't want to disappoint her fans. One thing I will say is her sharing 'Invasion Of Privacy" did not disappoint or hurt her fans at all. It was more so like her letter to people, letting everybody know that she goes through everyday things too.
Cardi B can make club bangers, pop songs as well as cross over music in the Latin market and yes she can sing too! "Invasion Of Privacy" went number one broke streaming records and the album can relate to men and women . When she says" she's going to make a f*** n**** feel you and she going to do a broke b**** filthy" basically she letting you know that her honesty and her genuineness is going to win you over no matter what and no matter how hard you hate on her she's determined to make it to the top and stay there. And by some of theses lyrics and crazy bars/lines such as "Only time I'm a Lady is when I Lay-Dees hoes down!"… “I just wanna call yo mom's phone and tell her that she raised a bitch then dialtone click.”… "Sex so good I say my own name during sex". We are convinced of every word coming from Cardi B #IloveCardi
On a final note someone said that Cardi B reminds them of a young Lil Kim (side eye). You all know as my readers that I am the biggest Lil Kim Queen B supporter, So with that being said I really took my time and listened to this project and I can say I don't think Lil Kim and Cardi B are just alike but I think the hunger, the passion to succeed and the genuineness of both of them to perfect the craft and to represent female artists is parallel. This is one of my favorite female projects in a long, long time. Nobody is saying that she's the best, nobody is saying that she's going to be the next conscious female rapper but what I am saying for hip hop and for female hip hop, the dedication and determination… she got it! I also want to say this is one of the classic albums for the streets. She did this for people !
On behalf of Earmatic, I want to say you are Earmatic Worthy! Please don't lose the regular girl from the Bronx mentality, continue to elevate yourself and share your story. Keep giving your passion through your words and thank you for being who you are!
